Soberpedia

The Sober Companion

A little more support.
Right in Messages.

For the moments between meetings, appointments, and conversations with the people who care about you.

We’re building a 24/7 AI sober companion for iMessage: a place to pause, put a difficult moment into words, and consider your next step.

Dedicated recovery companion · In development

AI support alongside your real-world support network. Not a clinician, sponsor, or emergency service.

An illustrative future conversation

Tonight feels harder than I expected.
What feels hardest right now?
Everyone is going out. I don’t want to feel left out.
Let’s think about one small next step. Is there someone you trust who you could check in with?
I could text my friend before I decide.

For the everyday moments

You don’t need the perfect words.
Just somewhere to start.

Some days you know exactly what you need. Other days, it’s just “I’m having a hard time.” The companion we’re building is designed around that first message—and helping you stay connected to support beyond the screen.

The experience we’re building

Small conversations.
Practical next steps.

Planned capabilities for the dedicated Sober Companion. These features are not live yet.

01 / A moment to pause

Put the feeling into words.

A conversational space to reflect on what’s happening, without needing to turn it into a perfect explanation.

02 / A little structure

Think through the next step.

Prompts to help you identify a manageable action, revisit a plan you made with your care team, or reach out to someone you trust.

03 / A rhythm that fits

Check in on your terms.

Optional check-ins and reflection prompts are part of the roadmap. You should choose whether, when, and how often they arrive.

04 / Connection beyond the chat

Keep your people close.

Help finding recovery resources and preparing questions for a clinician, sponsor, peer group, or trusted friend.

The 24/7 vision

Recovery doesn’t follow office hours.

A conversation at 7 a.m. A moment of reflection after work. A place to start when the house gets quiet.

Our goal is an AI companion you can message any time, within the app you already use. That means automated support—not a person watching the conversation around the clock.

24/7 recovery support is a planned capability, not a current availability or response-time guarantee.

Familiar by design

Less friction.
More room for a conversation.

01

Open Messages.

The experience is designed for iMessage, so starting can feel as familiar as sending a text.

02

Start where you are.

A question, a reflection, or a moment you want to talk through. There’s no perfect opening line.

03

Take it into real life.

Use the conversation to prepare for a human conversation or identify a next step in your existing support plan.

Start here today

A clear place to begin.

The dedicated Sober Companion is in development. Here’s what you can use now.

Available now

Ask about products or intake.

Open a conversation with the Sober Companion assistant in Messages. The draft says you came from Soberpedia. You decide whether to send it.

Open Messages

Current destination: Sober Companion. This is not the dedicated recovery companion and is not a crisis service.

Clear boundaries

A companion.
Part of a bigger support system.

AI, clearly identified.

The companion is an AI concept. It is not a therapist, licensed clinician, sponsor, or in-person sober companion.

You stay in control.

Opening Messages does not send anything automatically. Avoid sending sensitive medical, financial, or insurance details. Review our privacy information before sharing.

Human help when it matters.

Do not rely on an AI conversation for urgent help, detox, or withdrawal management. In a US emergency, call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988.

A few things to know

Questions,
answered.

What is the Sober Companion?

It’s our vision for a dedicated AI recovery companion in iMessage, designed for reflection, optional check-ins, and finding useful next steps alongside human support. It is in development.

Can I use it 24/7 right now?

Not as the dedicated recovery companion described here. That is the goal we’re building toward. The current Messages link connects to Sober Companion for product and intake questions; recovery support and response times are not guaranteed.

Is there a real person on the other end?

The companion is an AI experience, not a staffed support line. Do not assume that a clinician or crisis responder is monitoring a conversation.

What happens when I tap Open Messages?

On a compatible device, it opens Messages addressed to the current Sober Companion number with a draft greeting. You choose whether to send. Device and messaging-service availability can vary.

Will it send me reminders or track my sobriety?

Automated recovery check-ins, sobriety tracking, journaling, and clinical handoffs are not currently available. Optional check-ins and reflection tools are planned; final features may change.

How much will the companion cost?

Pricing for the dedicated Sober Companion has not been announced. This page does not enroll you in a subscription or collect payment. Your carrier’s messaging or data charges may apply.

Can it replace treatment or help in an emergency?

No. Keep your treatment, recovery supports, and clinician’s guidance in place. For an emergency in the US, call 911. For immediate crisis support, call or text 988.
